This clinic will begin at 9:00 a.m. with instruction on the essential casts of fly-fishing; the roll-cast and the overhead cast.  Our trained cadre of volunteers provide students with instruction based on the Joan Wulff method of instruction. Students will also learn about fly-fishing equipment, knots, and how to land a fish using a fly-rod during the on-the-water portion of instruction.

The fly-fishing clinics are open to first-time participants or anyone looking to improve upon their fly-fishing and will focus on the fundamentals of the roll cast and basic overhead cast.

In addition to stocking the ponds with trout, Commission personnel will provide loaner rods, reels and tackle to all registered participants.

This course is suitable for participants 13 years old and older. However, students 15 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Each clinic is limited to the first 25 people, and pre-registration is required.  This class is free of charge. Due to space restrictions, we ask that each person register for only one of the Level I fly-fishing events.

If you have any questions about this course, please contact Tom Carpenter at thomas.carpenter@ncwildlife.org or 910.868.5003 ext. 11
