Controlled Hunting Preserve Operator License for Game Birds

 

A Controlled Hunting Preserve Operators License for Game Birds authorizes the holder and his/her guests to take or kill domesticated pheasants, chukar partridges, Hungarian partridges, Mallard ducks, and other domesticated game birds, except wild turkey. This license also authorizes the purchase, possession, propagation, sell, transport, and release of propagated migratory game birds and propagated upland game birds, with the exception of the wild turkey.


License Restrictions, Rules and Conditions

 

Applicants must be prepared to show proof, upon request, of ownership or of legal leasing for the land on which the preserve is established. The preserve must be greater than or equal to 100 acres and established as one block of land. The preserve must be operated following the Rules of 15A NCAC 10H .0101-.0110.

Preserves that also use this license to purchase, possess, propagate, sell, transport and release of propagated migratory game birds and their eggs, and propagated upland game birds, except wild turkey, are subjected to the additional Rules in 15A 10H .0900.

As required by law, every hunter hunting on a controlled hunting preserve must have in his/her possession a proper resident or nonresident hunting license, or a Controlled Hunting Preserve hunting license for the current year.

Each individual who obtains a Controlled Hunting Preserve Operators License for Game Birds shall submit an annual report form, CSP Game Birds Report Formpost-marked within 15 days following the expiration of the permit as instructed in 15A NCAC 10H .0105 (a). Operators must also maintain a daily record of each game bird species released on the preserve and have it available for inspection by an authorized NC Wildlife Resources Commission personnel upon request.

Operator licenses are issued to a single individual at least 18 years of age or older. Unless otherwise indicated on the license form, Controlled Hunting Preserve Operator Licenses for Game Birds are valid from July 1 through June 30 of the following year.

Complete an online application at Go Outdoors North Carolina.Once your online application has been submitted, the appropriate staff will review the application. If your application is approved, you will receive an approval email with a link to purchase the license. You must purchase the approved license within 30 days of approval. This license has a $100.00 license fee plus a $5.00 transaction fee payable by a Visa or MasterCard. All license fees are non-refundable.
