Harris Lake has long been known for its excellent largemouth bass and crappie fishing. Recently anglers have voiced concern about the health of the fish in the lake after noticing a die-off of threadfin shad and a reduced number of largemouth bass caught. MORE

In January, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission issued a proclamation and distributed a press release stating that the 2021 striped bass harvest season in the Roanoke River Management Area would be reduced to just two weeks in April. This caught a lot of anglers off guard and angered many others. MORE

Many people are not aware that the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has three education centers across N.C. These Education Centers, located in Corolla, Fayetteville and Pisgah Forest offer a variety of fishing and outdoor education programs. Even better, most of the programs are offered at no charge. MORE
