Feedback Needed from Hunters for Annual Bear e-Stamp Survey

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is seeking important feedback from bear e-stamp holders to help agency staff determine the number of active bear hunters in NC, success rates by harvest method, changes in harvest levels due to changes in hunting methods and trends in the overall bear population.

The information gathered will help guide the Wildlife Commission’s management decisions for both black bears and bear hunters. Survey data will also used to evaluate current and future regulations and statutes.

The survey has been mailed to all e-stamp holders and is also available online. Please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire, even if you did not hunt for bears during the 2020 season.

As always, we appreciate our constituents taking an active role in the management of North Carolina’s resources. Please contact Surveys Biologist Ryan Myers with any questions related to this project, 919-218-3376. (Black bear photo courtesy of FWC.)

I would like to become more involved in your efforts in Ashe County, North Carolina. We have frequent sightings on our property from Early Spring through the Summer Months.

Good evening, I was trying to fill out the "Bear Survey" but the system was failing. I did not hunt any bear last season. I did apply for a stamp. I hope this answers your question. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Dennis Mitchell
