CONNELLY SPRINGS, N.C. (Nov. 14,2013) — The prescribed burn on 500 acres at South Mountains in south Burke and Rutherford counties, which had been scheduled for today, has been cancelled due to smokemanagement issues and extremely low humidity.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation plan to reschedule the burn for late next week, weather permitting.

The day before the burn, the Commission will issue an alert to local media and post notices on its website, www.ncwildlife.org, Twitter account and Facebook page.
