RALEIGH, N.C. (April 22, 2005) — A proposal to allow only archery hunting on Wake County portions of two public game lands will be the subject of a public hearing Monday, May 2. The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has proposed the creation of Archery Hunting Only Zones on Shearon Harris and Jordan game lands. The Wildlife Commission will hear comments on the proposals at 11 a.m. in room 332 of the Archdale Building in Raleigh, 512 N. Salisbury St. Shearon Harris Game Land consists of 13,227 acres in Wake and Chatham counties. The Archery Zone would affect 900 acres in Wake County north of Holly Springs-New Hill Road near the White Oak, Big Branch and Little Branch creeks. Jordan Game Land, comprising 41,213 acres in Wake, Chatham and Durham counties, would have an Archery Zone on 10 acres in Wake County south of Yates Store Road (SR 1716) along Panther Creek.
