Wildlife Commission to Hear Comments
On Proposed Changes to Captivity Rules

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 27, 2005) — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will hear public comments May 3 on proposed changes to rules pertaining to captive wildlife, especially cervids (deer, elk and other members of the deer family).

A list of proposed changes can be found here (pdf - opens new window). Many are merely administrative. Others include a prohibition on releasing domestic or wild swine, as well as numerous changes that would affect people who hold cervids in captivity.

The public hearing will begin Tuesday, May 3, at 1 p.m. in the Wildlife Commissioners Meeting Room, Room 332 of the Archdale Building, 512 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh.
