RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 12, 2006) – Dale Caveny, Jr., a 21-year veteran enforcement officer with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, was recently promoted to lieutenant with the agency. He will supervise an area of northwestern North Carolina that includes Ashe, Alleghany, Alexander, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes counties.

“This six-county area is a sportsman's paradise,” Caveny said. “We have great boating and lake fishing opportunities, excellent trout fishing, and this area consistently leads western North Carolina in deer and turkeys harvested. It is a great place to live and work as a wildlife officer.”

Caveny will manage and supervise enforcement operations for hunting, fishing and boating laws. He will also coordinate hunter education and boating safety education programs for the area.

A native of Kings Mountain, N.C., Caveny graduated from Kings Mountain High School and received an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Isothermal Community College and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University. He is married to Lisa Yarboro Caveny. They have a daughter, Elizabeth, who is attending WCU, and a son, John, who is a junior at Surry Central High School.
