COROLLA, N.C. (Sept. 26, 2006) – Travis Morris can add “author” to his list of credits.

The Currituck County native will be signing copies of his recently published book, “Duck Hunting on Currituck Sound: Tales from a Native Gunner” during Excursion Day activities at the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education on Oct. 1, from 1-4 p.m.

Best known for his many years as a hunter and hunting guide, Morris has knowledge and views on both the history and natural resources of this northeast corner of North Carolina. His hunting, fishing and boating skills are rivaled only by his stories of the old hunt clubs and the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the earliest inhabitants. Morris brings it all to life in this fascinating book about a region his family has called home for generations.

“Duck Hunting on Currituck Sound: Tales from a Native Gunner” is published by The History Press, of Charleston, S.C. The 128-page book features 74 photographs, including some rare, archival images. Copies will be available for $19.99.

Operated by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education is located at Currituck Heritage Park, Corolla, between the Whalehead Club and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. For more information, call (252) 453-0221.
