Deer Hunters Should Heed Tree Stand Safety Advice
RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 20, 2007) – With deer season in full swing across the state, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission reminds hunters that improper use of tree stands greatly increases the chance of injury. One fatality and two serious injuries involving falls from tree stands have been reported so far this year. “Each of those accidents involved a homemade or self-constructed tree stand,” said Capt. Chris Huebner, hunting safety coordinator for the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. “We recommend extra caution when using homemade tree stands.
