The Wake County Firearms Education & Training Center Reservations:

Reservations are open Five days before the shooting lane event date and two weeks before classes. We are excited to see you at the range.

We recommend using the "Event List View" to find open slots. In this view, you can sort by date and see the "Book Now" button when space is available. Each lane reservation can only accommodate 2 shooters, but only one person can shoot at a time. The reservation system will not allow more than one participant to be added. A separate reservation for each lane is required if multiple shooting lanes are needed for your group.  Those under 18 (Youth Waiver) must share a lane with an adult.

Operating Hours: Mon 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Fri 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Sat-Sun 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Closed Tues, Wed, Thurs, and select State holidays. (The reservation system will not allow bookings on select holidays).

Use of the facility and reservations are free. Amenities: Indoor Range (not temperature controlled),100-meter rifle range (Rifle Only)(Min 50-Meters), 50-meter multi-use range, 50-meter pistol-only Range, Universally accessible.

Other Information: Leave all firearms in your vehicle until assigned a lane. All firearms must be cased. Those ages 12-17 wishing to shoot must have a Youth Waiver. No one under the age of 12 is permitted to shoot. Visitors must bring their own ammunition and targets. We do not sell anything at this facility. Vending machines for snacks and drinks are available in the lobby; food and drink are prohibited on the range. Preregistration is required by reserving a shooting lane. After completing the registration process, you will receive a confirmation email.

Upon arriving at the Range: New participants, those with expired range passes, and those without a Wake County NC Wildlife range pass (issued within the last year). Must arrive 30 minutes before their reserved lane time to check in and attend the safety briefing. All firearms must be cased and left in your vehicle until assigned a shooting lane. Shooting times are limited to 1-hour blocks.

FREE Basic Handgun Shooting and Safety Training: Saturdays 1–4 p.m. This Free introductory handgun training is a three-hour class with a 4:1 ratio of students to instructors. Training includes classroom instruction about the operation and safety of various handguns. Students will learn the following:

  • The four fundamental pistol safety rules.
  • The basic knowledge, skills, and mindset to safely handle a handgun.
  • Nomenclature and function of both semi-automatic and revolver handguns.
  • The five fundamentals of marksmanship
  • About the components of ammunition
  • Cleaning and maintenance of handguns
  • Live Fire Exercise
