General Terrain Characteristics: Currituck Sound is wide and shallow in portions. Weather can change rapidly and unpredictably. The sound is subject to tides that affect access and navigation to and from the blinds.

Special Equipment Needs: In addition to normal hunting gear, the following items may be helpful: • Shallow draft boat large enough to navigate in Currituck Sound, camouflage cover for hiding boat, GPS, compass, binoculars, waders.

Waterfowl FAQ:

• Do I need to bring a blind? No, licensed blinds are on location and brushed by Commission and U.S.F.W.S. staff. No boat hides are at blinds.

• Do I need a boat to access my hunt area? Yes, blinds are located in Currituck Sound and a shallow draft boat large enough to navigate in Currituck Sound is recommended. • Can I harvest a tundra swan on my hunt? Yes, however you must possess a tundra swan permit. • Are there restrictions on when I can start hunting and when I must stop hunting? Yes, shooting hours are from 30 minutes before sunrise until 4:20 p.m. for Commission blinds and 30 minutes before sunrise until 1:00 p.m. for U.S.F.W.S. blinds.

General Terrain Characteristics: Majority of tract is dense understory pocosin habitat with some areas that have been thinned and timber harvested. Several areas have mature gum— cypress stands and mature pines that have been thinned to create more open wildlife habitat. Tract has an extensive road system with some roads maintained better than others. A 4 X 4 vehicle is recommended. Dare Game Land is an active military installation, and the primary
