With financial assistance
from the United States Army Corps of Engineers and United States Fish
and Wildlife Service, the Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Program has
developed the Atlas of North Carolina's Freshwater Mussels and Endangered
Freshwater Fish. This atlas emphasizes the diversity and unique nature
of these animals. Management practices are recommended for agriculture,
forestry, road construction and development projects to help reduce the
impacts of these activities on sensitive aquatic habitats.
