Wildlife Commission’s Annual Survey of Bear e-Stamp Holders Underway

Each year, at the end of bear season, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission seeks feedback from bear e-stamp holders the results of which help the Commission make the best management decisions for black bears and bear hunters. Specifically, responses help the Commission determine the annual number of active bear hunters in North Carolina; hunter success rates by harvest method; and if changes in harvest levels are due to changes in hunting methods, the number of bear hunters, or actual changes in the bear population. The survey data also assist Commission staff in evaluating both current and future regulations and statutes, as well as management options.

Surveys should arrive by mail near the end of January; however, the survey is also available online. Please take a few minutes to complete this important questionnaire, even if you did not hunt for bears during the 2017 season.

We appreciate you taking an active part in the management of North Carolina's wildlife resources, specifically black bears.
