The Federal Duck Stamp may be ordered through the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission online, by calling 833-950-0575 or visiting a wildlife service agent. The cost of the Federal Duck E-Stamp is $27, plus a $5 transaction fee. Stamps are available for purchase from July 1 to April 1 of each year. Hunters who order the stamp will be provided a proof-of-purchase receipt that may be used to hunt. The physical Federal Duck Stamp will be mailed within 45 days of the order date. Upon receipt of the physical stamp, hunters must sign and carry it on their person when exercising the privileges authorized. The Federal Duck Stamp expires June 30 of each year. Waterfowl hunters 16 years of age and older are required to carry the stamp when hunting migratory waterfowl.

Those who order the stamp using any of the above methods will receive a proof-of-purchase receipt for a Federal Duck E-Stamp that is valid for 45 days from the date of purchase. This receipt may be used to hunt with for the 45 days it is valid or until the physical stamp is received in the mail. The e-stamp proof-of-purchase is nationally recognized as a valid Federal migratory bird hunting and conservation stamp, is valid in any other state, and must be carried on your person when exercising the privileges authorized.

Federal duck stamps also provide free entry into national wildlife refuges that charge entrance fees.
