Pechmann Center Offers Five Outdoor Recreation Workshops in October

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 11, 2019) – The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is offering free workshops for people of all ages and skill levels in September. Online registration is required for the workshops, which are open on a first-come, first-served basis.

Oct. 3 ­– Introduction to Fly-Casting from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Open to ages 12 and older. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Oct. 4 – Surf Fishing Workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Open to ages 15 and older.

Oct. 8 – Trout Management Efforts Seminar from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Learn about the Commissions Public Mountain Trout Waters program, ongoing research projects and more.   

Oct. 15 to Oct. 17 – Basic Rod Building Course from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. Open to ages 16 and older.

Oct. 24 – Fly-tying Forum from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Open to ages 10 and older. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is located at 7489 Raeford Road in Fayetteville, across from Lake Rim. Commission staff at the Pechmann Center conducts fishing workshops, events and clinics throughout the year. Most programs are free and open to the public.
