Licenses for Disabled Sportsmen

The NCWRC offers several licenses for disabled sportsmen. Due to documentation requirements, disabled licenses can only be applied for by mail and in person. Each license is detailed below and applications are available under “Forms & Applications” on our Hunting, Fishing & Trapping License webpage.

 

Lifetime Hunting & Fishing License for TOTALLY Disabled Residents (PDF)

This license shall be issued only to an individual resident of North Carolina who is TOTALLY disabled as determined by the Social Security Administration (SSA), Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS), Railroad Retirement Board (RRB), the N.C. State Retirement System (NCSRS) or has been diagnosed with a presumptive disability as determined by the SSA (20 C.F.R. 416.934). Certification from one of these four agencies must be submitted with this application. Applicants with a presumptive disability should call 833-950-0575 for more details.
 

Lifetime Hunting & Fishing License for Resident Disabled Veterans (PDF)

This license shall be issued only to an individual resident of North Carolina who is a fifty percent or more disabled veteran as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, remaining valid for the lifetime of the individual so long as the individual remains fifty percent or more disabled. Certification from the Department of Veterans Affairs must be submitted with the application.
 

Unified Legally Blind Inland/Coastal Recreational Fishing License (PDF)

This is a free license which authorizes statewide fishing in all public waters including Public Mountain Trout Waters and trout waters on game lands.
