General Location: Approximately .5 miles south of Stella along the White Oak River. The Stella Bridge separates the Upper and Lower White Oak. The Upper White Oak includes the Quantenary Tract. The Lower White Oak includes the Huggins and Morton Tracts and White Oak River Impoundment.

General Terrain Characteristics: 80-acre brackish water impoundment, upland mixed pine/hardwoods, agricultural fields.

Special Equipment Needs: In addition to normal hunting gear, the following items may be helpful: • Binoculars, GPS, compass, waders, portable stand/blind, insect repellent.

Deer FAQ (Huggins and Morton Tracts only):

• Is dog deer hunting allowed? On the Huggins and Morton Tracts, dogs may not be used to hunt deer.

• Can I use a rifle to hunt deer? No, on the Huggins and Morton Tracts, the discharge of centerfire rifles is prohibited.

Waterfowl FAQ:

• Do I need a boat to access my hunt area? You will need a boat with motor to access White Oak Impoundment from the White Oak River. Internal combustion engines are prohibited inside the impoundment. The Huggins Tract may be accessed by vehicle from Hargett Avenue only by those individuals with a permit for this tract. The Morton Tract may be accessed from Sloan Farm Road by those individuals who have a valid permit for this tract. • Can I wade within the impoundment? Yes, but wade with caution. There are ditches and holes throughout the area.

• Can I harvest a tundra swan on my hunt? Yes, however you must possess a tundra swan permit. • Will I be assigned a location to hunt? No, your permit will allow you to hunt any location within the impoundment.

Small Game FAQ:

• Are there restrictions on what small game I can harvest with my small game permit? No, however centerfire rifles are prohibited.

General Location: West of Wake Forest, north of Raleigh and east of Durham.
