The 2021 N.C. State Fair :: Worth the Wait!

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will once again be at the N.C. State Fair in Raleigh from Oct. 14–24. As with most things these days, the agency’s presence will be different than in years past.

The main Wildlife Commission exhibit will be located by the Children’s Barnyard across from the Village of Yesteryear. The open-air display will showcase unique equipment used by wildlife professionals in the conservation of wildlife and habitat restoration. It will be a self-guided  opportunity, with information posted about how the equipment is used to help meet North Carolina’s conservation needs.

In addition to the main exhibit, the Wildlife Commission has joined the Governor's Highway Safety Program (GHSP) in Safety City. Stroll over to Gate 10 and enter the tent and not only find our wildlife law enforcement officers from across the state, but also other GHSP partners, including the NC State Highway Patrol, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, SafeKids NC and the Forensic Tests for Alcohol BATMobile. Visitors of all ages will enjoy our boat display and the opportunity to ask wildlife officers about their role in conservation and all things related to boating, hunting, fishing and trapping. Fairgoers will also be able to pick up a copy of the 2021-22 North Carolina Regulations Digest and other useful Wildlife Commission branded items.

And for all the button collectors out there, the law enforcement booth is where you can pick up the 2020 and 2021 Wildlife in North Carolina commemorative buttons. This popular button made its debut at the Wildlife Commission’s State Fair exhibit in 1981. Since then, it has become a “must-have” collector’s item for thousands of people who visit the fair.

So, yes, this year’s fair will be different, but certainly worth the wait. With our agency’s expanded presence, we hope we’ll see you exploring our main exhibit and visiting with our wildlife officers at Safety City this October. #WorthTheWait
