The Bear Facts, The Story of a North Carolina Treasure

These materials are designed to inform teachers, students, and other bear enthusiasts about black bears in North Carolina, and they are based on our popular TV documentary about North Carolina’s black bears. The Educator’s Edition contains the Original Documentary plus new Interactive Features.

Our goals are to inform educators and students about black bear issues in North Carolina, to provide bear safety tips, to explain bear management, and to clear up myths about this state treasure. The program contains excellent footage of black bears in North Carolina and interviews with bear experts. We have tested the DVD with approximately 80 North Carolina school teachers and with the State’s Department of Public Instruction and received resounding support.
