PITTSBORO, N.C. (July 10, 2012) — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will close the Bells Church Public Fishing Area, which is located on Jordan Lake in Chatham County, from 7 a.m. on July 24 to 5 p.m. on July 26, to complete repairs to the fishing pier.
The pier was closed briefly in June when crews began repairing the pier, which had been damaged by weather-related incidents over the past year. To finish repairs, crews will place large pilings along either side of the pier to stabilize it during high-wind events to prevent future damage.
While the Bells Church Public Fishing Area is closed, anglers can visit two other public fishing areas on Jordan Lake — Rock Quarry and Weaverville — both located in Chatham County.
For more information on fishing in public, inland waters visit the Commission’s fishing page or call the Division of Inland Fisheries, (919) 707-0220.
