Wildlife Operation Cracks Down On Bear Poaching

State and federal wildlife officials announced today an undercover operation involving more than 80wildlife violators and as many as 900 wildlife violations detected.
Primary violations stem from illegal bear hunting but include an array of wildlife and game law charges. The investigation continues and more charges are possible.
The four-year investigation targeted poachers in North Carolina and Georgia, with some work in adjacent states. Read the news release.
Operation Something Bruin is a multi-agency initiative focused on illegal activities involving bears and other wildlife in North Carolina and Georgia.
Partners include the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Forest Service, U.S.Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Park Service who worked together not only to coordinate interstate law enforcement activities, but also to create an interagency website dedicated to this enforcement action.
