Fishing Seasons

FISHING SEASONS

There are no closed seasons on inland game fishes with the following exceptions:

In designated Hatchery Supported Trout Waters. See all mountain trout fishing classifications.
On Lake Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge, where Federal regulations apply.
On Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge, where Federal regulations apply and specified waters are closed to access between October 15 and March 15.
On the Roanoke River, where the striped bass season extends from the US 258 bridge at Scotland Neck downstream to the mouth; and from the Roanoke Rapids dam downstream to the US 258 bridge at Scotland Neck. Visit the Guide for Fishing for Striped Bass on the Roanoke River for more information.
In Sutton Lake, where possession of largemouth bass is prohibited from December 1 through March 31.
