This classroom-based training course is Part 1 of a 2-part training course required for licensed WCAs to receive Alligator Control Agent (ACA) Program certification. The course will provide attendees with the rules and regulations that govern the ACA Program, nuisance alligator response processes, techniques for safe and humane handling of alligators, data collection and reporting requirements, and additional information useful for ACAs. Part 2 of the required training is field-based and will not be scheduled until the applicant has passed a closed book written examination administered by NCWRC staff at the end of the classroom-based training day. Program applicants are also required to pass an equipment inspection by NCWRC staff and obtain an Endangered Species permit from NCWRC prior to issuance of the ACA certification. Applicants may not operate in ACA capacity until they have:

  • Completed Part 1 (classroom-based) of the training

  • Received a passing score of at least 80% on the written examination

  • Completed Part 2 (field-based) of the training

Alligator Control Agents must apply annually to renew their WCA license, ACA certification, and Endangered Species permit to continue operating as an ACA.  The demand for the Alligator Control Agent Course is high. The course is filled on a first-come first-serve basis.
