Wake County temporarily suspends operations at the Firearms Education & Training Center (FETC), effective July 1, for the planned replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The design of the new HVAC system will improve airflow, air changes, and humidity levels in the facility.
The FETC is usually closed in August for its annual cleaning. The county will be combined the annual cleaning with the HVAC system replacement to minimize the downtime of the range. The required cleaning and new HVAC equipment will be installed, tested, and verified before reopening. The project will start in July and conclude in the fall based on the current schedule.
