Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center
Reservations for shooting lanes and basic pistol classes are visible and open 5 days before the shooting lane and pistol class event date. We are excited to see you at the range.
Patrons MUST “buy” (it's completely free) a package plan and set up an account before they can make a reservation. In order to reserve a lane, you must “buy” (it’s completely free) a range rental package. For the Basic Pistol Class, you must “buy” a basic class package. When on the reservation home screen, we recommend clicking the "Change View" button on the top right of the booking calendar and selecting “Month View.” In this view, you can sort by date and see the green "Book" button when space is available. The reservation system doesn’t allow more than one participant to be added. If multiple lanes are needed, then a reservation for each lane is required. Those under 18 (Youth Waiver) must share a lane with an adult. Each lane can accommodate up to two shooters, but only one person may shoot at a time. Operating Hours: Monday 5 pm - 9 pm, Friday 5 pm - 9 pm, Saturday-Sunday 9 am - 7 pm. Closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The range may be closed for events, cleaning, maintenance, and select holidays. The range will be closed during the entire month of August every year for cleaning and maintenance. Range closures will be managed through the reservation system.

Other Information:
- Leave all firearms in your vehicle until checked - in and a lane has been assigned
- All firearms must be cased (A case where the trigger cannot be touched)
- Those ages 12-17 wishing to shoot must have a Youth Waiver. No one under the age of 12 is permitted to shoot.
- There is no store on-site. Visitors must bring ammunition, targets, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Before Going to the Range:

Upon arriving at the Range:
- New participants or participants with an expired NC wildlife range pass cards must arrive 30 minutes before their reserved lane time to check in and attend the safety briefing.
- All firearms must be cased and left in your vehicle until assigned a shooting lane.

Note: Range safety officers may be unable to answer the phone while patrons check in.
FREE Basic Handgun Shooting and Safety Training
This Free introductory handgun training is a three-hour class with a 4:1 ratio of students to instructors. The training includes classroom instruction about the operation and safety of various handguns. Students must bring their own firearms for the live fire exercise. Students will learn the following
- The four fundamental pistol safety rules.
- The basic knowledge, skills, and mindset to safely handle a handgun
- Nomenclature and function of both semi-automatic and revolver handguns.
- The five fundamentals of marksmanship
- About the components of ammunition
- Cleaning and maintenance of handguns
- Live Fire Exercise
Check in for the pistol class will be at 9:00AM and the safety brief will begin at 9:10AM. If you miss the safety brief, you will not be able to attend the pistol class. You can use the reservation system here https://wakecountyrange.ezfacility.com/ and reserve a spot for the class.
